New Canada Children's Jewellery Regulations SOR2018-82 Published

On 2nd,May 2018, New SOR/2018-82 has been published on the Canada Gazette (Part II). And the new regulation will come into force on 2nd, November 2018, while the old edition SOR/2016-168 will be invalid.
Compared to the old edition, the new one has been amended mainly as bellows:
(1) Set more stringent lead content limits. The new one reduced total lead limit to 90 mg/kg from original 600mg/kg (old edition) and canceled the requirement (90 mg/kg) of soluble lead.
(2) Added the requirement of cadmium. Total cadmium shouldbe not more than 130 mg/kg in children’s jewellery item if it is small enough to be totally enclosed in the small parts cylinder illustrated in the schedule when a force of not more than 4.45 N is applied.
